5 tips for playing without a screen

Screen-free days. Not only us, but also children need them badly. For a large part of the day, you or your child will have a screen in front of you. This is also called the screen syndrome. It is important to teach children that it is also possible without it. This way, they come into contact with each other again and they also move more. In this blog, we give 5 tips for playing without a screen!

Tip 1: Camping at home

There are several ways to approach camping at home. Put up a tent with your child or let him/her put up a tent in the garden on his/her own. When the tent is up, the real camping can begin. Think of fun camping games such as badminton or frisbee and camping food such as sausages or marshmallows.

Is it a grey, drizzly day? Then the children can of course also camp indoors. Set up a small tent in the living room or playroom or make a nice hut with cloths and ropes.

Tip 2: Baking together

There is nothing more fun than baking or cooking together! Are you a real sweet tooth? Bake cupcakes, a large cake or cookies. After baking, they can be nicely decorated. Don't want to eat all the baked goodies yourself? Then go around the neighborhood and hand out the goodies to the neighbors (this way you can still get in touch with your neighbors in these crazy times). Find fun baking recipes here !

Is yours still too small to really help in the kitchen? Then put a play kitchen in the kitchen so that you can still cook together.

Tip 3: Audiobooks

Does your child like exciting stories or does he/she enjoy letting his/her imagination run wild? There are so many different audiobooks and every child likes something different. The library is the place where you can borrow audiobooks to find out what your child likes. Another great place to score new or old (trusted) audiobooks is the thrift store or via Marktplaats. Maybe you will find that one audiobook that you used to play to death!

Tip 4: Make fun things from old products

Crafting is always a hit with children. You can make really nice things from old products that you still have at home. They can get started with old toilet rolls, plastic bottles, cardboard boxes. Are you missing some creativity? Then take a look at Pinterest . There you will find a lot of nice inspiration.

Tip 5: Setting out a course

Do you have some time to spare? Then you can set up a course for the children in the garden. During a course, children can express their creativity. Do they not want to climb over the chair but under it? That is no problem, there is no right or wrong!

How do you best approach a course? Determine where the starting point is and divide the garden into sections. Then collect items to set out in the garden. You can use garden furniture, sidewalk chalk, tea towels, planks or branches for this. When everything is ready, the party can begin. This way, your children can enjoy themselves for hours without a screen.
